Pavo Heart Game: Wednesday Session

When you enter the light, you find yourself hovering weightless in a void, as if caught in a moment of falling inertia. In the distance, you hear a voice that seems to shift and twist, familiar and yet unfamiliar.

"You shouldn't be here. But since you already are, let's make a wager. If you can uncover the truth, you'll find me. If you can't, you may be hopelessly lost... What a shame that would be."

You begin falling, and your vision blacks out--

You do realise that "my" world is not yours?

Its not unique to your world that people think some who look just a little scary that it has to be a horrible fate.

Sometimes its just being different from before.

[He doesn't seem particularly convinced, but he also doesn't seem particularly inclined to explain.]

[He says it very smoothly, as if Pavo says it aaaall the time.]

As for the curse... Think on it.

Is he suffering from it?

That's not my place to say.

[She sighs.]

After growing up with this body, what people who aren't suffering think...honestly, I've never understood it. There's things from anger to pity to murderous intent. Its all so much for things that people just got born into. It makes no sense.

Its at least a little easier to understand someone who is cursed. Even if I don't think the same, its easier to understand where they're coming from.

[But he's just... going back to work again... Totally disconnecting from the conversation.]

And so quick to disconnect from interesting things to study. For shame.

[And Elemental Sight On while she's huffing.]

[With Elemental Sight, the room changes entirely. The stars on the ceiling glow with an ugly baleful light, reflecting off the floor -- which is now glass, over a massive ticking clock. On the walls are frescos, showing a strange and hazy place that looks ancient, dark, and underground, populated only by barren, white trees. The curtains strewn around are now heavy chains.

Off to the left, near the wall, the pile of curtains has become a snakelike pile of writhing chains.

The boy is gone, and his alchemy equipment with him. In his place is a monster -- a mass of bodyparts, human and inhuman, churning and seeming to shift and change and connect in ways they have no right to do. It's unnatural, and ugly, and it's immediately bearing down on you with hostile intent.]

[Oh, hello clock.]

[And monster.]

[She's on her feet, shield up, but going to focus on the glass, glass is just sand, and sand is just rock, and let's make Glass Spikes into the monster.]

[--You do that! It makes a lot of very scary garbled screeching noises, in what sounds like a host of different voices. It spews black blood, but continues to shift and shamble towards you, melting from around the spikes and not at all slowed down.]

[Unfortunate.]

[But she just needs a minute.]

[Okay, SHE'S DOMING UP AGAIN with stone and kneeling on the ground.]

[She wants to see if she can get information From The Clock about what the fuck Pavo's deal is.]

[Nothing seems forthcoming, other than a sense of impending doom. The monster slams against your dome, and it begins to crack. This monster seems worse than the shadow, somehow...]

You and your issues-

[All right, fine, the half of the dome facing the monster is gonna explode out into its face.]

[And she'll pull the other half towards her. Double stoneskin it is!]

[Pavo's issues certainly stagger at the explosion! But the monster recovers quickly -- far too quickly, bearing down on you with murderous intent.

But it can't break through that stoneskin. The impact will certainly be jarring, and you'll get hurt if you don't move away soon, but you have a window in which you could escape -- or try to destroy it entirely.]

[Oh no, we're fighting this thing. Clearly there is a 'monster issue' and there is some emotional thing in it and frankly-]

[This can't be helping whatever that is.]

[So she's moving, letting the stone move with her, much like the spell would allow, looking for where there's the most damage to stab her spear into.]

[The thing is vaguely ball-shaped. Maybe there's something in the center...?]

[Well then]

[Let's pull the loose stone together and try and burrow into the center!]

[There is a resistance -- it takes a lot of force to penetrate the ever-changing mass.

But you do.

You do, and it collapses, dissolving away into nothing but a pile of black goo.]

[She drives the butt of the spear in the ground, gonna breathe, and look. Is there anything left....?]

[Goop, goop, and goop. If you stare at it long enough, it seems to pool into almost a shape... Something like a solar eclipse. But then it continues to puddle out into no shape in particular.

There is a lock on the wall.]

..... [She huffs.] Seriously?

[Well, there's a lock, at least.]

[She'll avoid walking into the goop. Time to apply elemental energy to the lock!]

[You light up the lock!

You have now lit up all 6 locks. You hear the last click, and then a rumble, as the seal opens.]
