Pavo Heart Game: Wednesday Session

When you enter the light, you find yourself hovering weightless in a void, as if caught in a moment of falling inertia. In the distance, you hear a voice that seems to shift and twist, familiar and yet unfamiliar.

"You shouldn't be here. But since you already are, let's make a wager. If you can uncover the truth, you'll find me. If you can't, you may be hopelessly lost... What a shame that would be."

You begin falling, and your vision blacks out--

Hello Klee? What new treasures? [What are these drawings?]

[She holds up her current drawing. It appears to be schematics for some kind of bomb.]

Klee is gonna make the biggest jumpty dumpty ever! But I can't reach the stuff on the high shelves...

High shelves are a problem. I had to learn to climb them myself.

Or get help.

[SURE, LET THE CHILD HAVE A BOMB.]

Yeah! But if I climb it and it falls, Dandelion might get mad...

[She seems very enthusiastic and happy about all of this though. It's just a kid's "big sis will get mad at me" complaint, not one of real fear for her safety.]

Can you reach the stuffing for Klee?

Maybe we can make it more structurally sound.

[She will look for where this stuffing is.]

Why the bars on the window though?

[It is on the very top shelf, in a big bag!]

The bars...? Oh! That's because this is the solitary confinement cell! But all of Klee's fun things are here now, so it's not scary. Even though sometimes Klee likes to break out when she's not supposed to... hehe.

And why are Klee's things here?

[....is....is Poppy tall enough, she's 5'4.]

[If she stands on her toes, she should be tall enough...]

'Cause Klee gets grounded a lot... Blowing up the fish in the lake is against the rules, but they taste too good! But Dandelion says Klee is too little to be grounded without toys...

Uhm. But that's the real "Klee"! For me, it's because "I" like the real Klee a lot! The real Klee helps "me" remember to have fun!

So solitary confinement is...just a repurposed room?

[Standing on her toes and streeeeetching to grab.]

[You grab the bag of stuffing! As it comes down, it whacks you in the face.]

Yeah! It's the room for all the things "I" think are fun, and all the ways "I" make other people smile! Even the "other side" is fun things!

So Pavo likes weapons and bombs too?

The real Klee likes bombs... but "I" like playing with the real Klee, even with bombs. It's always funny!

[she takes the stuffing and happily starts filling the current bomb -- in the form of a cute plush bunny]

"I" really like fighting, too.

It does sound pretty funny. [Her tastes are suspect.]

Hmm, fighting can be fun, sometimes.

Okay, but--

[With Elemental Sight, this entire room changes, as if you've teleported to another place entirely. The warmth evaporates, replaced by a damp chill, and the cot becomes a table with heavy straps. Gone are the toys and games, in their place instruments of pain and injury. A pile of toys in the corner is now... adult toys.

It's not a play room, it's a torture chamber. And in the middle of the room, rather than a cute little girl, is a horrifying mass of tentacles and suckers with a big beak that looks ready to devour you.]

[Klee is still Pavo and Pavo lies.]

Then why is the monster there?

Probably 'cause that's where grown-up fun is, and the monster was... It was a real thing that happened. It messed that up, a little.

Is it actually gonna try and kill me?

Definitely!

....can you make me a bunny?

Yeah! Klee has lots!

[she pulls out a few small bunny bombs and offers them! Each one is about the size of your palm.]

They are very cute. [She will take them!]
