Pavo Heart Game: Monday Session

When you enter the light, you find yourself hovering weightless in a void, as if caught in a moment of falling inertia. In the distance, you hear a voice that seems to shift and twist, familiar and yet unfamiliar.

"You shouldn't be here. But since you already are, let's make a wager. If you can uncover the truth, you'll find me. If you can't, you may be hopelessly lost... What a shame that would be."

You begin falling, and your vision blacks out--

[Since you're you, the wind responds... sort of. Vaguely, you get the impression that maybe you'll find secrets if you just look with different eyes.]

[ Smiling a bit (relieved) when there is, in fact, a response. ]

[ Let's crank on that ELEMENTAL SIGHT. ]

[with Elemental Sight, the room changes a bit-- wind blows all the harder and all the colder, chilling you to your bones. Other than that, it seems the same...

Except, are you hearing whispers? They're unintelligible and quiet, tickling at the back of your mind, making you feel watched and judged.

Something flickers at the edge of your vision, but if you turn to look you see nothing but your own reflection.]

[ He ain't afraid of no fucking wind!!!!!!! . . . Even if it's really, really cold.

He pulls his cloak tighter, letting said wind carry his response. ]

There's no sense hiding, you know. Why not show yourself?

[There's no direct answer to that, at least in words, but the whispers grow louder.

"Why are you even trying? It's pointless. You can't win. No matter how much you pretend, you are exactly what you want to deny."

They continue on in that vein, and as they do they take on the sounds of familiar voices -- people you know, people you love.

But maybe more immediately concerning is that your twisted, warped reflections are reaching out of the ice towards you.]

[ He takes an immediate step back, summoning a vortex in one hand. He doesn't unleash it just yet, though. ]

Pavo! Can you hear me?

[If he can, he doesn't respond! But there may be a sliiight momentary pause in the whispers, before they pick up again.

The reflections emerge fully, surging towards you in a wave. As they leave, others form and begin to follow after them. They are emerging as distorted clones of you, their shapes inhuman and their movements jerky and unsettling and very clearly malicious.]

You're a few thousand years too late to shake me with such tricks.

[ A tornado opens up amidst the grotesque clones, attempting to snare them in place.

He sends his voice into the wind again while trying to keep them at bay. ]

Pavo. If this is what lives in your mind, then come out here and put them down, once and for all.

[He has caught the clones! They are very funny in his vortex, but more just keep spawning. It seems endless.

How long are you willing to wait for an answer?]

[ He's pretty patient.

But the longer things go on, the less patience he has.

Which is why he eventually summons a storm to the rival the one already whipping through the maze -- and attempts to flatten the ice down with the gale. ]

[...You flatten the ice. It's like Mondstadt's mountains 2.0! The reflections are blown away into oblivion, and don't return.

Off in the center of the maze, the only thing that remains is a jagged, crystalline spire of ice. It resisted that gale, but it may not be able to resist more.]

[ HE ONLY KNOWS HOW TO DO ONE THING.

Anyway -- with the clones gone, the gale dissipates, seemingly mollified by that.

Instead he approaches the ice spire, cautious and careful now. ]

[It is ice -- deeply frigid ice, much like that found in Dragonspine.

It's a bit hard to see, but deep in the middle of it, there's a small figure frozen in stasis.]

[ KNOCKS. POLITELY. ]

Hello . . . ?

[The figure does not respond. It appears to be completely frozen.]

[ HE DIDN'T BRING A PYRO USER INTO THIS DOMAIN!!!!

Pressing a hand to the shard and pushing it, gently -- can he move it? ]

[He cannot move it, but perhaps he could... shatter it?]

[ There goes his plan of dragging mysterious shit into Knight HQ!!!! Oh well. ]

Sorry about this!

[ He steps back and materializes his bow, then looses an arrow into the edge of the ice chard (specifically so it would miss the figure inside should it penetrate) ]

[It goes in...! The ice cracks, fissures webbing away from the point of impact like glass breaking. It sounds like glass, too, sharp and cold and yet a little musical.

The spire crumbles, and there is a small Pavo on his knees on the ground, gasping for air. He looks maybe 10 and very confused.]

[ Oh nooooooo, how long has it been since Mondstadt has had a Pavo this tiny??

He crouches down, putting a hand on his shoulder ]

Good morning.

[He flinches, like Venti is something absolutely terrifying. He's shivering, too, but that may just be the cold, when he's dressed in nondescript tattered rags.

When he looks up, his wide eyes are both visible. The right one is a black void.]

...Hello.

Ehe, you're really not dressed for this weather!

[ He pulls his cloak off and drops it over tiny Pavo's shoulders ]

Why don't we go somewhere warmer?

[Tiny Pavo hesitates, glancing from Venti to the flattened maze and back a few times.

Eventually he nods, quietly, and tugs that cloak more tightly around his shoulders.]

...There's a really warm place.

[ Getting to his feet, offering a hand up ]

Oh? Do you know the way?

[He considers for a moment, and then takes Venti's hand, pulling himself up. He's a little wobbly, but then again he's been frozen for who knows how long!]

I think so.
